LEVERAGE ON THE PARABLES OF THE FIG TREE AND OF THE SOWERS!

SEVEN REAL PATHS TO TRUE WEALTH (Chapter four)

(Fourth Real Path to True Wealth)

“Now learn a parable of the fig tree; when her branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is near:” Mark 13:28.

1 Chronicles 12:23, “And of the children of Issachar, which were men that had understanding of times, to know what Israel ought to do; the heads of them were two hundred; and all their brethren were at their commandment.”

Inability to identify what is right to do and when it is right to do it is a terrible issue when you are on the path to true wealth! Understanding the times and what the trend of things is at a particular time is of great importance to an achiever of true wealth.

Planting maize out of its season results in wastage of time and of investment.

You must be up to date with current laws and events, as well as people’s present ideologies that have abilities to either positively or negatively impact your efforts and precious investments. You must also remember, always, that patience with consistency must never be pushed aside while labouring through sowing for maximum returns.

Matthew 13: 3-9, “And he spake many things unto them in parables, saying, behold, a sower went forth to sow;

And when he sowed, some seeds fell by the ways and the fowls came and devoured them up:

Some fell upon stony places, where they had not much earth: and forthwith they sprang up, because they had no deepness of earth:

And when the sun was up, they were scorched and because they had no root, they withered away.

And some fell among thorns; and the thorns sprung up and choked them:

But others fell into good ground, and brought forth fruit, some a hundredfold, some sixtyfold, some thirtyfold.

Who hath ears to hear, let him hear.”

From the above passage, we can make out three relevant scenarios of bad investments worth learning from:

  1. ‘Some seeds fell by the wayside and the fowls came and devoured them up’: this can be with investments involving ‘dupe’ or ‘theft’ cases. This is an unfortunately bad investment.

  2. ‘Some fell upon stony places, where they not much earth, and forthwith they sprung up, because they had no deepness of earth: And when the sun was up, they were scorched; and because they had no root, they withered away’: this is similar to investments subject to quick/sudden rise and fall, which may be due to several reasons including volatility: As good as this investments may appear, you do not build your life on them, as, they are not reliable. I term this a ‘Take-and-Run’ investment. When you fail to know what time is best to quit with your gain, and it falls, it turns out to be an unfortunately bad investment for you.

  3. ‘Some fell among thorns; and the thorns sprung up and choked them’: this can be compared to investments made in a troublous and mismanaged structure (which could be a system or an establishment); this being weakened and no longer able to withstand pressure nor the test of time, packs up and, results in great losses to its hopeful investors. This also is an unfortunately bad investment.

These could have been avoided for maximum returns, if the sower had done enough research before embarking on his investments, and had stayed focused and disciplined while carrying out this worthy course. If through diligent research and a disciplined approach, the sower had executed his business, and rather sowed all he intended to invest on that good ground, how wealthy should its returns have made him!!

Learn from this Sower!

Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is likened unto a man which sowed good seed in his field:

But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way.

But when the blade was sprung up and brought forth fruit, then appeared the tares also.

So the servants of the householder came and said unto him, Sir, didst not thou sow good seed in thy field? From whence then hath it tares?

He said unto them, An enemy hath done this… Matthew 13:3-9.

This sower sowed good seeds on good ground: He made a good investment for maximum profit, but while ‘men slept’ an enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way.

Some, indeed, labour the right way but end up earning a poor yield from their investment; they do everything needed but all results back as an unfortunate investment, why? This could be because, after they have done it all right, forgetting the watch aspect of a good investment, they go to sleep. They fail to observe the important ‘follow-up’ part of investing rightly, and simply assume life to always be ‘as you lay your bed so you will lie on it’; they ignore the existence of  unavoidable external opposing forces!

If you will be truly wealthy as you earn the maximum of your investments, then, you must acknowledge the existence of these forces, while you strategically and consistently fight against them; you must not always take life as simple as it appears to be, so you will not always end up being unfortunate.

If you will have true wealth, then you must always remember that, “The horse is prepared against the day of battle: but safety is of the LORD!”

Also, this scriptural passage calls to mind the importance of insurance.

Insurance does not indicate a lack of faith in God, it is not a sin. Where possible, obtain a good insurance package for your investments, as one of your measures against the effects of external opposing forces. It is wisdom from God! But, remember to make sufficient findings, coupled with discipline, while investing in this as well.

Last and very important to note, also, on this path to true wealth is found in Matthew 13:31, 32, “Another parable put he forth unto them saying, The kingdom of heaven is like a grain of mustard seed, which a man took, and sowed in his field:

Which indeed is the least of all seeds: but when it is grown, it is the greatest among herbs, and becometh a tree, so that the birds of the air come and lodge in the branches thereof.”

Just as is this mustard seed, sown on good ground, which then grows to become a tree and the greatest among its kind, so is your purpose: You may never know the extent of greatness that your purpose, rightly sown, can attain until you sow it!

That greatness God has invested within you will only become great and make you great when, and only when, you in turn invest it in its right use. Bring it out and it will bring you out! Let it out and start using it for that which it was made!! Stop the despise!!!

That which you have got is sufficient for your start. Invest it on good ground and it will yield its expected greatness; but never you forget on your journey to true wealth, that, “True safety is of the LORD!!!”

So, leverage on these parables of the fig tree and of the sowers, if you want to attain true wealth!
